A place of power is a specific geographic location that has an elevated energy background.
It can be unique natural landscapes, natural monuments, places associated with important historical events or cult rites of people who lived there, places of pilgrimage and burial grounds.
People have used unusual places in nature to build churches, temples, and altars since the ancient times. They strengthened already energetically powerful places with their faith, rituals and sacrifices.
Throughout all times, people have been enticed by the mysterious and the unfathomable. Ancient sacred sites are surrounded by myths and legends allowing a contemporary person have a look, even if only a slight, into history. Legends and notes telling about the rituals performed at the ancient sacred sites, for instance, donation rituals, honouring of nature according to the annual course of the sun, the cult of fire and the deceased, have remained until nowadays.
It is a private matter whether to believe or not in the special properties of sacred places in Latvia, but it is obvious that for any person it makes sense to visit these energy centres to understand how rich the country is with holy stones, springs and hills. Maybe they are not the biggest and grandest ones, but they are our own, native and therefore even more important!
